Writing fiction is how I make sense of the world — and occasionally escape it — building characters, places, and moments that feel just real enough to matter.

These short stories are equal parts imagination, curiosity, and late-night “what if?” spirals, created purely from my love of storytelling, creativity, and the endless freedom of world-building. I just can’t get enough of creativity.

I write not to showcase how amazingly brilliant I am, (hint hint) but to flex my creative muscles and keep my thoughts and ideas flowing.

Monologue of a Friend

Hi,

This is your best friend.

Your best friend since day one, since moment one.

I was right there when you entered the world, screaming and crying.

An Unlucky Remembrance

Many people think they have terrible luck.

Maybe you get pinkeye. Pink eye, you think to yourself, who the hell

gets pink eye past elementary school. Of course it’s me. And sure,

all credit to you, that's unlucky. But that is

nothing – and I mean nothing compared to Mike Platz.

Of Blight and Bonds

Of Blight and Bonds was my Independent Writing Project submission at Marist University. Its around an 80 Page draft of a multiple-narrative fantasy novel completely created by yours truly. Since 80 pages is just a tad too long for a portfolio, I’ve pulled a few shorter sections to include here. Feel free to jump in and explore the land of Dravaryn!

Poetry

Fragile Passion

I kept thinking of a cracked fish tank

where the water leaks slowly, water level dropping inch by inch.

The fish seem unbothered at the first crack,

yet as it spreads they begin to take notice.

Caretaker of Thought

There lives a garden

all too familiar to everyone.

Flowers cannot grow here,

soils are too acidic.
